TfGM staff vote for action and the first strikes are called

Members of both unions at TfGM have voted by large majorities for industrial action in pursuit of a settlement to their pay claim.

UNISON members voted by 63.23% for strike action and 78.48% for Action Short Of Strike (ASOS) on a 69.75% turnout. Unite members voted by 87.02% for strike action on a 56.47% turnout. Both results pass the thresholds for lawful action to go ahead.

UNISON colleagues also voted for strike action at West Midlands Combined Authority (72.81%) and West Yorkshire Combined Authority (59.64%), but only West Midlands passed the anti-democratic turnout threshold and have a mandate for lawful action. Both also voted for ASOS.

The first action has been called by Unite, with Saturday 18 October 2025 as the first strike day. Details are on stopthedrop.uk/action which will be kept updated as action is called and/or suspended by either union.
